On Saturday, September 13, 2025<\/strong> (6:30 p.m.), SCD Studio<\/strong> will inaugurate in its Perugia<\/strong> (IT) art ground (Via Bramante 22N) Stitched Lines<\/em><\/strong>, the project room of Patricia Kelly<\/strong>, curated by Barbara Pavan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Irish artist is the winner of the first edition of the Embroidery For Art Prize<\/em>, established by the Studio on the occasion of the 2nd International Biennale of Contemporary Fiber Art in Valtopina last year. The exhibition is part of the exhibition cycle CASSANDRE<\/em>, a container-project promoted by SCD Studio, and will remain open until October 11, 2025<\/strong>. Patricia Kelly\u2019s works stem from a profound reflection on the bond between human beings and the land<\/strong>, understood as a space of memory, identity, and transformation. Raised in County Fermanagh, Ireland, the artist translates the rugged and ever-changing landscapes of her homeland into stitched lines, where free embroidery becomes a primary gesture, suspended between abstraction and figuration. The use of recycled fabrics and salvaged materials gives the works a tactile and layered dimension, evoking rural and familial practices, while the poetics of wabi-sabi<\/em> guide her aesthetic towards the celebration of imperfection and transience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Stitched Lines<\/em>, the stitched line becomes sign, writing, and reflection<\/strong>: from the organic forms of nature to geometric compositions, dense or rarefied, reminiscent of pencil drawing\u2014a restitution of a landscape that is at once natural and cultural, historical layering and imaginary sublimation. Kelly\u2019s artistic practice is inscribed in a contemporary discourse that values the intimacy of the act of embroidery as a form of resistance and reconnection with one\u2019s land and cultural roots. The stitched line is not only an aesthetic element, but also a symbol of care and belonging, a means of weaving bonds between generations and preserving the history of a rural world in rapid transformation. Through her art, Kelly offers a living testimony of a relationship with the land that is at once personal and collective, physical and spiritual, where memory is embodied in gesture and matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patricia Kelly<\/strong> is an Irish artist who trained at Ulster University in Belfast, where she obtained a degree in Fine Craft Design. Her work has been presented in numerous national and international exhibitions, including projects in Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Latvia, and Italy. Among her recent participations (2024\u201325) are the Biennale of Fiber Arts Australia, the 2nd International Biennale of Contemporary Fiber Art IT, the Cairde Arts Festival in Ireland, as well as exhibition projects at the Bluecoat Display Centre in Liverpool, the Amelie du Chalard gallery in Paris, the Leitrim Sculpture Centre, and Gallery 57 in Sussex, along with collaborations with international platforms such as The Curators and The Drawing Box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
