ART EXPLORA: ARTISTIC RESIDENCY IN TIRANA (ALBANIA)

Tirana Art Residency – Vila 31 x Art Explora is a three-month artistic residency programme founded by Art Explora in the Albanian capital, to be held in 2026.

Opened in January 2025, the residency welcomes international artists to develop an artistic project connected to the local context and to explore the Balkan art scene. Vila 31 promotes a rich cultural programme in collaboration with local organisations, institutions, schools, and associations, including exhibitions, workshops, screenings, talks, and festivals open to the public.

The programme is open to artists and collectives, researchers, and curators of any nationality, with no age limit, and with at least five years of professional experience. Eligible disciplines include visual arts, performing arts, digital arts, art criticism, and curating. Research fields may also include humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technological innovation, and ecology.

The main mission of the Art Explora Foundation is to promote access to art and culture for all. In this spirit, residents are asked to offer workshops for diverse audiences (NGOs, schools, art students), where they may share specific aspects of their research, present artistic techniques, or actively involve participants in their creative process.

The programme includes three residency sessions:
• January – March 2026
• May – July 2026
• September – November 2026

Two formats are available: the INDIVIDUAL programme and the COLLECTIVE programme.

Each resident will benefit from:
• A studio-apartment
• A monthly living grant of 800 EUR
• A production grant of 1,500 EUR
• A round trip to Tirana
